Descripción

The remains of a large of totara tree left over from the Banks Peninsula forest clearance in the first decades of European settlement. I expect this to be Halls' totara up here on the ridge.

Descripción

Common in narrow gorge and also further downstream in the more open forested portions of stream. Images show a range of adults noted skittering across rocks and water, a dead specimen (use the adult hand for rough scale) ansd 'typical' habitat where these spiders were noted.

Is this Dolomedes dondalei (see http://naturewatch.org.nz/observations/5029709), D. aquaticus or another species?)
