More Hammerheads. A common sight at this time of year with 4 being spotted on this day. These ones were a bit further out unlike the pups that I often see closer in, in green water. These bigger ones out here were 3+ms long . At this time of year, you WILL see a Hammerhead if you go out deep enough and the conditions suit. Also seen on this day were turtles, sunfish, a whale shark, mollymawks and fur seals but I didn’t get a photo of them all. Alll out in these deeper water.

This anemone appears to be consuming the eel. I touched the eels tail and got no reaction from it, I then pulled it gently but it appeared to be held in the grasp of the anemone. Did not know an anemone would consume something like this, I assume the eel was dead and the anemone managed to grab it to eat?

Found this in Pataua estuary in half a meter of water an hour or so before high tide. It was initially half buried in sand until disturbed. Initially thought it could be a juvenile Allomycterus pilatus. But it does look visually similar to Torquigener altipinnis which is apparently not known from mainland NZ. Happy to say I have no idea.
