I ID'ed it at the time a a Sandhill X Whooping Crane hybrid. Not sure if this is 100% correct, but it seems like the best fit. notes from that time: "Distant looks, thru heat-waves, at an unusual white Sandhill'ish Crane. This bird was amongst the large Sandhill Crane flock at Paul's Lake, Muleshoe NWR on 9 January 2003. It had the size, shape and red cap of a Sandhill Crane, but it had the pure white body with black primaries of a Whooping Crane. Perhaps this was a hybrid Whooping X Sandhill."

This is one of the hybrid Fork-tailed Flyxatcher x Tropical Kingbird. Born just over a year ago. This individual is not the same from 30 minutes ago, and was about 200 meters away. They are presumed to be siblings, born a year ago.

This beautiful bird was perching on the fence around our pool during the sunset. He or she did not much mind a bunch of us relatively close to take photos,we didnt hear any vocalizations, but it opened its beak and that was a site to behold. Hard to see a ton of color variations, the breast was a little lighter in color. We have farmland behind us,lots of Canadian Geese,Mallards will sit poolside, but this the is the first time a bird like this has payed us a visit. Once it left had an impressive wingspan and seemed to move to a tree. Id love to know a exact species.

This is an interesting gull. Has characteristics morphologically of California Gull, but back/mantle slaty color is WAY beyond anything I've seen in California. Dark eye seems to R/O Yellow-footed, Lesser Black-backed etc. Light artifact?? Please opine.

This continuing bird has been reported as a Barnacle Goose but there is some discussion about it. I wondered if the elongated body shape and the neck shape might be a sign of hybridisation (I expect Barnacle Geese to look a little more compact than this, although that is simply an impression). The back is rather dark brownish grey (not as crisp black and white as an adult Barnacle) and the barring not as contrasting as expected. Likewise the flanks have a diffuse pattern rather than obvious barring. Both of these features could be explainable as an indicator of age, i.e. a bird in its second year with retained juvenile characteristics. However, the unexpectedly dark brown-grey secondaries with minimal white edging are very unlike Barnacle Goose and an indication of hybridisation (since even juvenile Barnacle Geese usually present a whiter folded wing with black tips). The amount of white on the crown seems slightly more than typical and the black loral line a tad thin and perhaps doesn’t quite meet the eye (but this is not entirely unheard of in Barnacle Geese, which do show some variation; although I find juveniles typically show less white in the face not more)... perhaps this bird therefore best considered a likely hybrid.

This bird was identified based on location. According to Cornell Chihuahuan Raven is a permanent resident of this area while the American Crow isn't found here. This one was in my front yard under the bird feeder happily stuffing itself with sunflower seed. I took many shots of it because I was very surprised to see either of the possibilities. I accidentally deleted the original observation , but I will re enter it along with several other shots of it. The second shot above in this series is the original observation .Thanks to @tomlang88 @greglasley
