An adult with two juveniles.
Birds making their nest on our plastic owl😂
jumped onto the transom to escape a bara. i found it too late. dead.
Observed and photographed by Nesta Devine in suburban garden and sent to me by email. This record and photograph are posted with her permission.
Apparently self-seeded in a public garden.
Obscured because I’m curious to see how big it will get before someone pulls it.
Series of photos of Neil, a pangolin at a Saint Mark's Vet Clinic and Animal Clinic, rescued from illegal bushmeat market about a couple of years ago, captured for pangolin conservation awareness on World Pangolin Day 2022.
Any chance of an id on the crab?
I saw this bird walking in front of my car and my window was cracked so I thought I'd be silly and say "Hello" but I was not expecting the bird to actually respond in any manner. Made for a good photo though!
Golden-crowned snake consuming a rather large near legless skink
young one, right inside the sound. there was a bigger one out by the nee islets that was probably this ones mum.
Barn swallow roost site in Boje, Cross River state, Nigeria.
Boje is an IBA that witnesses an aggregation of barn swallows from around the world, from November to April/May.
The swallows, in their thousands, roost in elephant grass fields on the surrounding hill tops.
Ornithologists visit annually to perform ringing, which enables research to further understand the swallow migration.
Cool to find these again, and now I know where they live. There were lots of them in the upper intertidal area of the rocks, this was around high tide. Habitat shots last.
~3-5mm long
<1m depth
Found one! Quite conspicuous when not in C. germinata.
~4cm long
<1m depth
I know I'm spamming these guys, but these images show two mating, or at least trying to!
Variegata or something else? Seems to be a first for the Port Hills on here.
Another candidate for a hybrid Yellow/Red admiral.
I can take better photos soon, but I’m too excited by my tiny find to wait :)
Cartilage? Found on beach (in Coromandel?) about 25 years ago.
2 individuals near each other one paler and smaller than the other.
Both ~0.7cm long
Inside see through casing. Alive. Many of them scattered throughout beach. Some just had eggs inside them. Open from both ends.
Parasitic Amphipod on a Cydippid Ctenophore. Many ctenophores had these on them, I observed one with three on it!
~3mm long
I'm not sure if this is classed as a spider, or a crab. It was in a rock pool under water.
The observation before was for the Ruru.
This is a screen shot from a video I filmed:

Several growing in leaf litter under mixed native/introduced trees. Suspected Noddy’s Flycap, NZ species Amanita sp-Ridley-2.
Approx 5mm across, the snail appears to wear it's shell sideways. Found at night in a Māhoe tree.
Not a true “observation” but wanted to share and tag anyway. A pair of footprints left by a small amphibious creature about 310 million years ago. An eight year old kid found it within five minutes of our tour. I honestly got a little emotional holding it. It was added to the museum’s collection. Joggin’s Fossil Cliffs are famous for their record of fossils from a rainforest ecosystem dating back to the Pennsylvanian 'Coal Age' during the early Carboniferous Period.
While taking a picture of this Eastern Hognose Snake, observation at https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/79960222, this butterfly landed. Friends?
Pseudoscorpion & its babies !
These tiny creatures are really amazing to watch. Other day I posted how these false scorpions carry their eggs, like a bunch of grapes on its back.
Here i got continuation of that , Where Mother pseudoscorpion is carrying its juvenile on dorsum of abdomen & few more are there on its ventral side.
I was not able to capture better than this as pseudoscorpions are restless creatures & they never sit when exposed to sunlight. They always move in search of the dark. These Arachnids have the unique strength of moving both forward & backward.
This makes us very difficult to capture . I am sharing three record photos,to showcase its maternal care.
