This bird was reported to me at approx 1700 by a colleague passing by the location. When I arrived it was on the stone jetty and a number of cars were pulled over watching it. Steve Zottoli showed me photos of black-back gulls harassing it. He reported to me it was a young bird. As photos show it tolerated relatively close approaches. Steve reported that it flew back and forth between jetties. I brought boys. As photos show we appear to have reached it's flight distance. It only flew a short distance and landed very close to the road.
