Tadpoles in this large puddle by Idaleona Road. I saw maybe two dozen, but could be way more. The puddle likely formed in January or February with all the rain, but could be more recent. Tadpoles were a little over and inch long with no legs yet, so I assume they are too big to be tree frogs which have been seen nearby. Spadefoot toads have been seen nearby as well. This puddle is ephemeral, and usually only lasts a few weeks or a month or so, and doesn't form every year. So far this has been a very wet winter here.
The puddle is drying out.
