Seed Plant:

Organism was located at Flatwoods Park Trail

Organism was about 24 inches tall. Very thin stem, bright yellow petals, and was brown in the center of the flower. Was found on the edge of a sunny grass field next to the parks trail.

The visual characteristics which let me to believe that this organism was a seeded plant was its vascular tissue and its use of seeds to reproduce.

Known geographic distribution of the organism is Central and eastern United States. Expected bloom time of this seeded plant is June to September.

These mushrooms are basidiomycete fungi with white spores. They have thin, yet tough stems. Some look like little umbrellas while others appear like an umbrella flipped inside out. They're no bigger than a thumb or a pinky finger. Their colors range from a bright orange to a more muted orange, nearing a tan color. They can be found just about anywhere, typically growing on mosses or in rather damp soil. This specimen was found in a field near castor beach.

I observed this bald cypress tree (Taxodium distichum) along the shoreline of the Hillsborough River in Tampa, Florida on September 9th, at 7:03 pm. This bald cypress tree was located near many other bald cypress trees, which dominate the shoreline of this section of the Hillsborough River. Bald cypress is native primarily in the south eastern United States, and is mainly found in wetlands, and near the shores of fresh water lakes and rivers. Bald cypress trees have sparse, green needles, which turn brown and fall off in the winter. Bald cypress trees are characterized by brown/grey bark, sparse green needles, a wide base that tapers to the top, a wetland habitat, and woody knees, which rise above the water. This particular bald cypress looked to be roughly 60 feet tall, and i would approximate the base of the tree to be about 3 feet in diameter. Bald cypress trees are conifers, members of phylum coniferophyta, and their seeds are located in their cones, which they drop in order to reproduce. I used this website to get information about the bald cypress tree.

The swamp rabbit typically eats grass, sedges, shrubs, twigs, tree seedlings, and tree bark. Which is actually what I found it doing before it spotted me then running off shortly after.

The images depict a white Bladderflower growing form the seed. I have decided to use this plant as my seed plant because this plant has many characteristics of a seed plant. These organisms are very small since they are just growing and they appear to be about 2-3 inches tall. The organism appears green and it already has a stem and leaves depicting that it is growing. The location of this plant it as a public park located next to a beach so that plant is in a very resourceful area for food, sunlight, and resources needed for survival. This is a seed plant because the plant is surrounded by other plants that are growing because they seed is continuing to grow into a plant. Seed plants being as very small sprouts just like the images depicted which is why it is a seed plant. Seed plants are very capable of reproduction and they are also a great food source for animals such as butterflies. This plant would be phylum level four since it is a flowering plant that creates flowers.

This lichen was found on the bark of a tree, located near a wet land. This wetland was located at Miramar Pinelands nature park. This species is grey with a green undertone. As the general name implies , the lichen has a ‘ruffled’ , ‘powdered’ like surface that grows along the bark of the tree. The swollen, powdery-looking rims bear "soralia," which in turn are composed of "soredia," which are composed of small groups of algal cells surrounded by fungal filaments (Jim Conrad). These special features of the powdered ruffle lichen are what makes this so significant and easy to identify. The sexual spores can also be seen once observed closely.

The Basidiomycete Fungi had a red and white top and yellow base. The organism was observed at the trail of Ford Alderman Park on September 12 at 12:03 pm. The Basidiomycete is usually found in wood areas and different terrestrial ecosystems. The color was red and white on the top and yellowish on the base on the fungi. The observation was made with inaturalist recommendation and id. The scientific name is Basidiomycota.

Visual Description: A small to medium sized bird, less than a foot tall. Towards the end of its body, its feathers are a darker brown, but the tips of the "tail" are white. As the feathers get closer to the front of the body, they become a lighter cream color, with small darker brown spots. In the center of the body, where the wings are located, there is a prominent whit feather on either side. The bird's head is mainly the lighter cream color, but has a black strip at the top of the head, and through the eye. Its neck is short and stout. The beak is long and flat, with a pale yellow color. It has short legs and wide feet. Both the legs and feet are orange.

Habitat: The bird was found in the urban habitat of the University of South Florida's Simmons Park. It was surrounded by other ducks, and resting in the grass near a pond. The fungi that I found was in a similar marshy habitat that my eastern lubber was in. This was near a patch of freshly cut grass. I identified the mushroom as the laccaria lacatta, or deceiver mushroom. I made this decision based on its orangish-brown color, small size which was about 1 inch in diameter of the cap and 2 in length of the white stem. This seems to be fairly consistent among all sorts of deceiver mushrooms, and they all contain rather interesting gills below the cap which is one of their defining characteristics. (mushroomexpert.com). I could not tell if the mushroom had any reproducing structures, but know that the mushroom can break pieces of itself off in order to reproduce (mushroomobserver.org). There were other smaller mushrooms nearby which may indicate that this mushroom had reproduced earlier, but none were larger than this mushroom.

The Magic Mushroom is a fascinating fungus that has a very distinctive shape. It is a multicolored organism, consisting of brown and white colors. These mushrooms have a brown spot on the top of it and as it comes down it turns into a solid white. The head of the magic mushroom is very tiny, they can measure to be about 2 inches across. The one that I observed was about 1.4 inches across. They also have very tiny roots measuring up to 3-4 inches tall, the one that I observed was about 2 inches tall. The scientific term for this mushroom is Psilocybe cubensis. These mushrooms have been around the world for thousands of years, they were used in ancient religious rites and ceremonies. They are considered to be a hallucinogenic substance people ingest that grow in regions of Europe, Africa, South America, Mexico, and the United States (Kathleen Davis, 2019). I found this organism a few blocks from my house located in Orlando, Florida. Unfortunately, consuming these mushrooms may have some side effects, it can make you feel paranoid, anxious, panicked, or even overwhelmed. Therefore, if you chose to consume these, be very safe.

This fungus is called a White Dapperling (Leucoagaricus leucothites), also known as a white Agaricus mushroom. This mushroom is part of the Agaricaceae family in the genus Leucoagaricus. It is most common in Britain, Ireland and North America, and other parts of the world. This is a non cultivated species that is normally found on lawns, grasslands, fields, and woods. Usually, a large number of them are scattered throughout the ground. This particular mushroom was found on a university dorm lawn close by a tree. It is considered non cultivated because it was found growing on its own with no human intervention. This mushroom has a white cap about 4 inches wide with tiny flack or scales on it. In the middle of the cap has a brown center that looks like it is peeling off. The grills underneath the cap are white and close together. The thin white cylindrical stem is about 2 inches long with a brown ring around it. This mushroom is edible; however, this species is often confused with the toxic white ( Amanita) toadstools that grow in the same habitat

This large mushroom stands at 20-25 cm tall and 15 cm win width. The top of the mushroom was a creamy white color and underneath has thin gills that are similar in color to the top. The stalk was a shade of brown close to the base and grew into a lighter shade at the top of the stalk.

Habitat
Found in grass taller than itself and next to some other mushrooms of the same description. It grew under a tall palm tree which didn't inhibit sunlight.

Reference

I categorized this mushroom as a Green-spored Parasol due to the many similarities that they share. For instance they have white caps and large gills underneath. When they grow, they open up their tops wider as seen in the picture. Also, they tend to grow almost any where that they can get sunlight as this mushroom was found in such a place.
