This was found outside the MSC at USF. I’m pretty sure it is some type of weed, it is small with a yellow center and small white petals. The yellow center may contain pollen which is responsible for transporting the male gametophytes. The organisms was growing at the base of a tree that gets watered by sprinklers daily. According to this website https://www.floridasnature.com/wildflowers6.html the flower is a spanish needle (Bidens alba). This would be an example of a seeded vascular plant.

The Burr marigold is an annual flower native to the state of Florida (Florida Wildflower Foundation). Pictured is a single white marigold flower about two inches tall. The center of the petals is where the anthers reside. Anthers produce the pollen, or male gametophyte of the plant. The stem and leaves are also pictured. The Bur Marigold is a seeded vascular plant (angiosperm).

This is a Bur Marigold. It belongs to the kingdom Plantae, the Order asterales, the family asteraceae, the genus bidens and the species pilosa. Most importantly, it belongs to the clade of Angiosperms. I observed this flower near a small natural pond on the University of South Florida Campus. It was in a bed of smaller plants, near a larger oak tree. It appeared to have anywhere form a minimum of 4 petals to 5 or 6 with a center of yellow seeds. The flower is very small in size.

Seeded vascular plants were pretty scattered in the woods near my home. These Bur Marigolds were the best ones I found. I took these at 3:50 pm on Thursday October 3rd and the weather was humid and hot. These plants were scattered around with only a couple flowers being apparent. The flowers were white on the petals and yellow in the middle. They were pretty low to the ground. After doing some research I learned these can be used for medicinal purposes below is a website explaining their benefits in medicine.

Flowering plant growing wildly around the USF campus. The flowers are very small, approximately 1 cm in diameter. The color of the petals is white with yellow pistil or center part where the stigma, style, and ovary (reproductive organ) are located. According to https://www.cabi.org/isc/datasheet/9148#todescription , "The plant is an erect annual herb, 20–150 cm tall (in tall plants sometimes the branches straggling), very variable, reproducing by seeds. Main root pivotant. Stems square, glabrous or minutely hairy, green or with brown strips. Dark green, opposite leaves on stems and branches, 4–20 cm long, up to 6 cm wide, the lower leaves simple, ovate and serrate, the upper leaves trifoliolate or imparipinnate with 2–3 pairs of pinnae and a single terminal leaflet. Petioles are 2–5 cm long.". It was found in a humid and moist environment on a sunny afternoon.

The angiospermae seed plant observed is Bidens pilosa, also known as Bur Marigolds or Blackjack. Bidens pilosa are similar to a sunflower however include the colors white and yellow. From the Encyclopedia of Life the Biden pilosa plant is zoomed up close to see the center. From my observation the specie had the same aspects of the Biden pilosa however had less white petals. The petals of the plant are smooth while the center is fragile. The Blackjack had perhaps an inch and a half in diameter. Along with the Blackjack were some that had not bloom yet and were fairly green. The geographic distribution of this specie is within North America.

The black-jack flowers were identified to be the seeded vascular plant, specifically an angiosperm. They were seen growing out of an old tree trunk and was found in a field area located in Gainesville, FL. There were many flowers in a patch and had white petals the middle was yellow. It was about 3-4 inches tall and had many green leaves attached to it. The flowers were very small but in great quantity. The reproductive part of the flower is the stamen and the pistil. According to BioNET-EAFRINET, these flowers are seen commonly invading certain areas such as, fallow lands and open spaces.

These flowers were found in a field where there were multiple other wildflowers. This is was along a natural walking trail. These flowers were small in size, about 4-5 inches long and had three main colors in its entirety. green for the stem, white for the petals and yellow stigma. I noticed that from a single stem, about three flowers would grow out. This plant reproduces through its seeds. This flower was identified as a black jack due to its color and how it was found in an environment where these flowers are typically found. According, to bionet, these flowers are now considered to be weed and it has a large presence world wide.

Black-jack is a species of flowering plant in the aster family. It is native to the Americas but it is known widely as an introduced species of other regions. The leaves are oppositely arranged with five white dentate leaflets. The fruits are slightly curved, stiff, rough black rods, that measure about 1 cm in length. The habitat in which this organism was found was sunny, with minimal shade coverage from surrounding trees. The plant was surrounded by weeds and other wild flowering species. One isolated plant can produce over 30,000 seeds. Seeds are widely dispersed through the fruits bristles that embed themselves in the fur and feathers of animals. Habitat: This plant was found near a lake in a community in New Tampa. They are usually found in areas with a plethora of sunlight and although they are not aquatic, they prefer to be near moist areas.

Bidens pilosa has thin and yellow flowers attached to long stems that range from 0.3 to 2 meters in height. The flowers have approximately six oval white petals attached to the yellow pistil. The pistil is the female reproductive part of the flower.
Some defining characteristics of the taxonomic group to which black-jacks belong to are the white ray flowers and yellow disk flower. This organism was found in an urban habitat with flatland and some trees. Bidens pilosa is most commonly found in South America.

The seeded vascular plant contained several oval like petals circling the edges, roughly four to three petals. There was a cluster of small circular patterns, also flower like within the middle of the plant, about thirty. The diameter was no longer than an inch and a half around. The petals were white with smaller yellow circles within the middle. A defining characteristic of the group includes the green chloroplast in the stem that conducts photosynthetic processes, as well as its multi-cellular nature. The pollen is a structure that can be recognized. The habitat was around the outer edges of the Marshall Student Center. It was growing in between some unkempt shrubs with a few weeds and other small plants around. The habitat was fairly dry and composed of a bit of dirt and empty space between the shrubs and the flower. This type of flower can be seen all across north america and is globally known. https://www.toppr.com/guides/biology/biological-classification/kingdom-plantae/, although the flower is unidentified, the reference provides detail on why it is Kingdom Plantae. This is a seeded vascular plant, angiosperm. It has 8 white petals and has simple green leaf with opposite arrangement. The branching of the veins on the leaf suggests that this plant is dicot and the presence of the flower supports that it is an angiosperm. It was found on the campus of University of South Florida. It is a terrestrial plant and was found on an urban habitat. This is an invasive weed and is about 20-150 cm tall. The heigh of the plant proves that it has a developed vascular system.
