They seem to be doing quite well in this narrow strip of habitat largely bordered by agriculture.
Found the Kingsnake under a felt sheet, on the side of a relatively busy road. It was within 15 feet of another Kingsnake under a wood board.

This individual was quite skittish and aggressive, so I picked it up and brought it on to the road to photograph, before it could disappear into the grass. It bit my shoes several times. The other Kingsnake was much calmer.
I released it by the felt sheet, but it slithered another way instead.
