A Porella - probably P. elegantula (it would be under the current circumscription) ut there are other species (some named some not) waiting to be teased out from this species.
Saxicolous at this site on marble. Locally common.
Abundant. Corticolous on silver beech (Lophozonia menziesii). Photobiont green. Medulla white. Thallus shown in dry and wet states. Thallus underside mostly white without cyphellae or pseudocyphellae, smooth with occasional cephalodia 'lumps'; upper thallus grey when dry, green when wet, smooth except for occasional cephalodia, and numerous orange-red apothecia aggregated toward thallus centre; otherwise devoid of soredia, isidia, phyllidia or maculae.
Common along track side threading up through tall grass and karamu (Coprosma robusta).
Common component of lake shore turf (marginal turf). Associated with Glossostigma elatinoides, Myriophyllum propinquum, Eleocharis gracilis and Hydrocotyle microphylla.
The more typical erect state of kahikatoa (Leptospermum scoparium agg.) at this location.
