5m high tree beside the track, plus a 50cm high seedling. Streblus heterophyllus is not common in the Waitakere Ranges.
Note the waxy colour on side of neck, separating it from the royal species.
This pair is often found in front of monkey rock but we don't know where they nest, if they even do so.

Two NZ dotterel feeding near the reef. Shape of the beach had changed dramatically following big swells. Stream now extends down to the waterfall. Usual nesting spot had been inundated with seawater during storms.
