November bird and a Cape May bird! Been around the Point area for a few days at least.
This gymnosperm was found in the center of the woods in a nature preserve found near the USF campus. The plant had small white flowers growing off of it making it a seeded vascular plant. The leaves are more concentrated than the flowers and they are very small, about as large a quarter in size. Lettuce Lake is nearby, about 100 feet away from where I found the plant. It was located near the bottom of a tree trunk as you can see in the left side of the picture. The center of the small flowers was a very vibrant yellow and the flowers looked fairly healthy, may be due to the heavy rainfall the day before.
