Kamahi trees are the main podocarp-broadleaf woody trees in Rakaitane walk. They dominate forest's canopy with their towering height and large leaves.
Terrible photos in the wild due to low light and rushing. Tentatively identified as Weinmannia sylvicola by Allan Herbarium but other experts disagree.
Beside the track took me a while to click as to what it was. Quite a few here.
The tree was beside a car park in The Bay of Plenty. I don't beleive the date on this one, It should be much later in the year.
I was surprised to find this kamahi growing happily in this front garden in Christchurch, well outside of its native range. It appeared to be seeding too.
No more than 10 m high. No other specimens noticed in immediate vicinity.
Taking a guess here but better than "Plants".

Great to see the towai after stopping in Towai, although we didn't see the towai in Towai but on the side of the hill just past the Matauri Bay turnoff :)
I have added another obs for the german wasp on the flowers.

In Pauanui. Mature leaves composite so if I have identified correctly I believe this is Towai.

Occasional amongst loose sand on coasatl foredune. Very large leaves for this species.
