The organism was found attached to the trunk of a deciduous tree. Geographically, Common Greenshield Lichen can be observed year-round growing in the rain forest and temperate regions.

Visual: The organism is light green-gray and seems to protrude from the branch in curling sheets. Some of the tips are slightly brown. Each frill is about 3 cm across. The entire thing is about 10-15 cm at its longest point. Some surfaces are smooth while others appear fuzzy or bumpy.
Habitat: Fallen oak tree branch.
