First of two Western Tanagers in this Sitka Willow. It's just a little above and to the right of center -- or you can look at the second, cropped photo.
Flock of about eight individuals flying between spruce tree and ground.
fruiting under mix of conifers (predominantly pseudotsuga and thuja).
~2 meters from standing water (wetland/pond).
stipe felt frail.
not positive of id. maybe cortinarius or laccaria ?
a few growing at the base of a conifer, I think Douglas fir, in damp, disturbed conifer forest habitat
