Nature Journal #1 Semester 2 Friday, January 21, 2021

Today is Friday, January 22, 2021, and I have been watching a live bear cam, and here are my findings.

I was watching for about 20 minutes and thought that was good to stop there. I would say the time at this location was 3:30 in the afternoon. I was watching a bear cam located in Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska. The bears were a typical brownish hue. The bears were stomping around in the waterfall and sitting down in the lush waterfall enjoying the sunny day. The camera moved about 180 degrees and stopped towards the edge of the waterfall. The bears were then seen trying to catch fish going upstream. Some bears were successful in catching their food and others took many tries. But they were overall successful. They then went to a wooded area and relaxed for the duration of 9 minutes. I heard the waterfall rush and flow along. I heard the bears letting out heavy breaths too. I noticed the fish were probably Sablefish. It honestly reminded me of how I went fishing with a friend and we caught one.

Nature Journal #6 Friday, November 20th , 2020

Today I went outside at 2:00 o'clock and it was fairly warm. It was about 57 degrees. I went out not expecting much and it can be said that this expectation was to be true then I found a lizard climbing up a tree that suited quite well in camouflage. I intended to catch a snapshot or study him while I had ample time to but he scattered off before it came into fruition. I noticed that it couldn't have longer than my pointer finger. What I smelled were honeydew and wet grass. On top of that, it also smelled like hot pavement. I wonder if I will be able to catch another glimpse of more lizards.

Nature Journal #5 Thursday, October 29th, 2020

Today is the 5th input into my journal and it is Thursday the 29th of October.

I went out today into my back yard for a change. I heard the occasional dog barking at me. I saw the typical stray cat. I saw the ants building an anthill in the yard, like always. Their dedication to building this giant abode with their labor was a great observation. I did in fact see a roadrunner I could assume. It was in the neighbor's yard and when I got closer it did some parkour or something to that degree and left. He ran up the wall for about 3 and a half seconds and then ran onto the metal roof covering the neighbor's car. He had a greyish brownish hue and long feathers. About as long as my hand. That is all I saw today.

Nature Journal #3 Friday, October 16th, 2020

Today is Friday, October 16th, 2020.

I couldn't go out today due to my mom being gone and me having to watch my siblings. I looked out the window for about 7 and a half minutes and saw occasional pigeons and that was really it. Most just sat on the wires to a powerline together for about 2 minutes. They just sat there stared at each other thinking about whatever they were thinking about. I saw nothing else spectacular in my backyard, so I took a trip to my front yard, and low and behold I saw absolutely the same thing. Pigeons just flying everywhere and I saw a praying mantis. it sat on the ground for around (my best guesstimate) 3 seconds. Then it lept somewhere else out of my view. Other than that I really have nothing else to report.

Nature Journal #2 Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Today marks the 2nd nature journal and I will tell you the events of what I saw during my deadliest venture to the park to date. At 10:42 am I stepped out my humble abode and set forth to the foreboding wilderness AKA the park. In all reality, it was a pleasant experience, unlike the last time where I almost got bit by ants. I spotted a Vermillion Flycatcher perched on a branch. I didn't know what kind of bird it was until I looked it up on google. Along with the birds singing a chorus of nature and along with the symphony of tree leaves dancing in the wind and its sounds bustling. The sounds never fell into decadence and the birds simply went on their way. The Vermillion Flycatcher was foraging and others came around but alas it didn't seem that the others found anything at their disposal. They left shortly after I recorded all this information. I didn't seem to see anything out of place or anything comeback. I saw a butterfly that had a reddish-orange tinge with black spots of course. I do not wanna say if it was a Monarch because I do not really know much about butterflies. That is all I really saw besides stray cats who ran across the parks in a dash trying to get to work or something like that. Thank you and the picture will be included in a doc

Nature Journal #1 Wednesday, September 23, 2020

I went outside around 10;45 and the sun was shining brightly in my eyes. I sat at the park bench for around maybe 27 minutes. I saw woodpeckers and a vulture from a couple of days ago. I sat and I would say the vultures average height would've been around 3 and a half feet tall but he was far so I am pretty sure he was taller than that. I saw stray cats and dogs running around the park from time to time. It sure was hot but there was a breeze that cooled me off for a little bit. The wind was scattered and I don't know if it has a term for it. I saw a colony or what was what I presumed to be ants crawling near me and that is when I got up to search elsewhere because I don't like being bit by ants. I saw pigeons and other birds flying through the air and I saw other various bugs like grasshoppers and flys and that is really it for that department. There were trees all around me too. They measured from what I looked up at 40 feet or less. Some of the leaves are changing colors because of Autumn and it is starting to have more variety.
