Mount La Perouse, June 19 1985

I was invited as a botanist on a helicopter expedition to Mt. La Perouse on the Queen Charlotte Islands -- now Haida Gwaii. We were looking for QCI endemics and possible refugium species. Dewitt Jones from National Geographic instigated this, as part of his photographic essay on the Queen Charlotte Islands (Vol.172, July 1987). I hope that the photographs that I took in those few hours will be of some further use through iNat.

Posts from the 1970's and '80's

I was sick with Covid in October 2022 and took that time to scan old slides. I checked their dates by the slide imprint dates and my journals from that time. I used to catalogue much of what I saw in my journals, so if you are seeking further verification, I can send you a photo of the journal pages. Thanks to iNat this can be done :) .
I've found that it's not necessary to keep most of my old slides, so have continued to sort through them, scanning observations to iNat that might be useful to the community (or that give me a happy memory).

Broadwell area

When I place an observation on "Broadwell Road," it means I have found it somewhere on the Channel Ridge properties on Salt Spring Island. This is a large area, but when I try to be more specific (such as off of Sunset Drive) inaturalist doesn't acknowledge it.
