On this particular day hundreds migrated south through the Kansas City area between about 9:30am and 2:00pm. I spotted a few more in the weeks following traveling the same direction.
The one pictured was found on my way to work. It was very cold outside and the monarch was moving quite slow. Later a few miles east from this location is where I saw the migration.

Monarch on a bush of purple aster. This monarch spent several minutes at this spot before flying away. In the second picture a much smaller butterfly lands next to it that is much more dull in color.

Spotted two cucumber beetles on this beautiful and vibrant flower. The beetles are a small oval shape, yellow in color with black spots.

Try to determine if this is the cabbage white or cabbage looper. Caterpillar is green, has small hairs and a thin yellow line down the middle of the back. Unable to see if the middle of the body is with or without legs.

Possibly another kind of trametes found in the winter months on a dead branch. Fan shaped and white in color with small black specks on it. Appeared to be stiff.

Found on dead and decaying wood in the winter months. Was in small clusters and had a few different rings of color. Was very thin.
