A mockingbird couple (2nd photo) has nested inside the bush. 2 days ago, I heard loud bird calls, the mockingbirds seemed distressed about the nest. Then I saw the scrub jay flying out of the bush a few times, once carrying out a mockingjay fledgling. The jay dropped it on the cement and seemed to attack it. It looked like the jay was eating it. This must have happened twice, because my neighbor found a second fledgling in her sidewalk. The nest is now empty and abandoned. One of the mockingbirds (I believe the male) stayed by the nest for the rest of the day, but now all birds are gone.

The most disturbing thing I've ever seen a bird do. I don't have video of the fledgling, but I do have video of some of the fight between the birds and the mockingbirds calling loudly.

The photos through the blinds are of the mockingbird in distress, while the scrub jay is within the bush. Apologies for the quality, I didn't realize I was watching something so interesting.

Seemed smaller and thinner than the average skunk. Maybe young?
