Tauhinu does quite well in this area, notably so.

Very little marram on the foredune here. Aside from a bit of sand wind grass, very little of anything else either.

Common behind the front dune, and the dominant plant in the back dunes here, where it hasn't been overgrown by tree lupin and coastal wattle. In many places, marram doesn't get a look in.

The tree lupin is advancing forward in these dunes, and the coastal wattle is taking over the back dune.

Sole exemplar noted this morning in 4-500m of dune length. But it is entirely possible that there's a lot of it already overgrown by tree lupin, or coastal wattle.

This tree, about 50m back from the dune front, is most of 5m tall already, but behind the line of macrocarpa trees, there is a stand where there are some mature 15+m monsters which the tuis are savouring.

Quite a lot of this rubbish in the back dunes, and obviously the well sheltered areas are warm enough to encourage early flowering. These dunes are going, going gone.

This plant is growing in the lee of a macrocarpa. The leaves on this plant are markedly larger than the Pohuehue interwoven amongst the Wiwi (Ficinia nodosa) 20-25m in front of the line of macrocarpa trees.

Considering how much tree lupin is about here, this weed is not as common as I'd expect in this location. There's often a strong correlation.

This katipo web also contains three old katipo eggsacs and a relatively old S.capensis eggsac. Sigh. S.capensis nixed as usual, along with well over a dozen in other locations too.
