A joyful calf of Yubarta or Humpback Whale jumps in the vicinity of Islas Secas.
They are sired in these waters and after 11 to almost 12 months of gestation, their mothers return during the southern winter to give birth around Islas Secas.
At birth they are 10 to 18 feet long (3 to 4.5 meters) and weigh about 1980 pounds (900 kilos).
They drink 130 gallons (495L) of milk per day. Milk is so greasy that it floats on the water like cheese. The calf grows 1 inch (2.5cm) per day and in its first year it doubles in size.
