This animal has been spotted indoors but also rarely spotted in large groups under hanging rocks. This specimen has unusually long legs among with the longer ones are around 16 cm long and presumably a male individual. This specimen seems similar to European harvestman but is enormous than European ones with its much wider leg span. Click on the Third picture for a scale (finger)
The oval body is laterally compressed. The whole body is black which is also distinctive from the other reported species. Hence the species level IDying is leaving for expert openion.

Hooded grasshoper in western ghats of India. Spotted at a hill station called Peermade near to Periyar Tiger Reserve. Seems similar to Teratodes monticollis but the absence of yellow-orange edge of pronotum, the distinctive white streak on the posterio-ventral edge of the hood and the reddish-brown tibia and tarsus other than green in monticollis suggests a different species. Identification needed.

Spotted in a sandy near shore area at night. It showed more of a writhing movement than a skink like walking movement since the legs are too week and seems contributes less to the movement. Not captured but just photographed. Contacted zoological survey of India for species identification.
