I am currently calling this R. perfluopanicea, although that may change. The species belongs in Phaeoclavulina. We have a number of similar species most easily differentiated by spore features.

Originally described from Australia. We have a couple of closely related species and it is currently unclear whia (if either) are phylogentically the same as the Australian original. Note the vinescent bruising in this collection, which the closely related species does not do.

Descripción

Needs a combination in Phaeoclavulina. Described from Australia. In NZ similar to R. sclero-carnosa, R. polypus (sensu NZ), R. perfluopinicea, and the undescribed R. sp. 'Totara Reserve'. Like all Phaeoclavulinas in NZ it is associated with woody debris/litter. The species differ in spore size/ornamentation but macroscopically rather variable and similar.

isolated from necrotic patches on living leaves old man's beard. A pink slimy yeast. When put in the fridge for a week the growing edge became green filamentous and with hyphopodia-like cells. Sequence says this former variety of A. pullulans, originally isolated from subglacial ice in norwegian sea-water and also found in house-dust in the USA. New to NZ

By urban footpath in litter on soil. New to NZ.

Cap with distinct veil remnants around the edge. Hygrophanous. Stipe bruising yellow with age. Gill edge not red. Stipe base enlarged but without rhizoids or rooting. 4 spored. No pilocystidia or pleurocystidia. Spores length=11.3–14.7µm (µ=12.9, σ=0.85), width=6.5–7.6µm (µ=7.1, σ=0.34), Q=1.6–2.1µm (µ=1.83, σ=0.14), n=20. Nothing green in NH4OH. Section fragilissimae.

This is a recently described species close to C. marcesibilis, itself close to Psathyrella longipes (USA) which needs a combination in Coprinopsis.

Associated with burnt gorse by a wetland - part of a Scion 'semi-controlled' burn experiment.

N. sitophila is commonly associated with burnt vegetation - or roasted seeds/beans/nuts etc.

Records in other habitats on iNat are probable misidentifications

It seems this name is being used for at least two different species in NZ (PDD not iNat). One has pores that blue and is really a Cyanosporus closely related to C. caesius (the real version). The other does not blue and is more shaggy and is related to Postia pelliculosa, which also does not blue
