Would love to know exactly what these snails (commonly called "whelks") are. I didnt take the photo for ID purposes so I realize it's not great. They are very common I'm sandy and muddy estuaries, and I am assuming they are all the same species but could easily be wrong.

I know this as a "Bracket fungus" don't know the scientific name though. Growing on Metrosideros excelsa.
