Saw several mid-level instar larvae (final instar larvae have a red or orange dorsal stripe, younger instars like this 1/2" long specimen have a yellow dorsal stripe--- pers. comm. from David Wagner) feeding on some streamside goldenrods near the tall smokestack on the property near the lake

Amazingly abundant species this fall, saw dozens at the pollinator garden at near parking area. Late in afternoon, watched four buckeyes gang up and chase what appeared to be a male promethea silkmoth out of the vicinity! Have not seen such mob behavior before

Growing along footpath in powerline cut; photographed from below, looking up into the dependent blossom. Stems nearly hairless, I was thinking Smooth Groundcherry but the taxonomy is confusing to me. I suspect the names have changed since the Peterson's wildflower guide was last published
