Nearly hit a little bird on the side of the road riding my bike. Realised it might still be alive, went back, scooped it up, and it was either stunned or a juvenile although it perched on my finger. Put it in a nearby hedge to recuperate.

Found in a clump weeds growing over an exposed rock in a east-facing cut bank. We heard "peeping" and when it ceased on our approach, we carefully pulled back the plant root mat growing over the rock and the frog was found on the rock face.

Found while digging a post hole almost a metre deep in relatively soft soil (mostly built up leaf litter). I assume this is a larval cicada, but interested in confirmation. Also wondering if it is likely to be "this year's" or next. Not sure how long the common cicadas stay underground.

Found this poor butterfly (moth?) in our garden, looking a bit worse for the wear. Beautiful body colours, which I suspect would have been eclipsed by the wings had they been in better shape.

This is the vine covering the lamp post which seems to attract a lot of butterflies and bees. Wondering what sort of vine it is. Has plain looking but very sweet smelling flowers
