I took this to be an Artomyces due to been found on well rotted wood. So how surprised to find it had tan coloured spores indicating Ramaria. Was quickly able to get it into subg. Echinoramaria but from there the Keys failed me Ramaria ochracea var.sicco-olivacea was the closes I could get to. Spore are 7 x 4um and with spines

A species that I find regularly always in associated with moss but never been able to name. I Thought it might have been Gloeocantharellus dingleyae but finding it again this weekend and finally having looked at the spores they are to small for this species. 5 x 3µm with textured patches. I am thinking it might not be undescribed which would be odd considering how common it is.

I originally came across this species back in 2002 and could not find a name for it as it was not mentioned in the NZ paper on the Hygrophoraceae. Eventually I found a reference to its presence in NZ in an Australian publication.

Sixteen years later and even though its a common species it still seams to be over looked with the only collections in PDD having been made by me.

I have no idea what these are as keys identify cup fungi do not exist. I would normal not bother to photograph this but the green colour was so unusual. That was once I had decided it was not a lichen.

I have come across this species several time but does no key out. Easy enough to get to the right subg. Laeticolora but that is as far as the keys go. It is possibly an unnamed species.

So whats wrong with this photo? Amanita phalloides is a mycorrhizal fungus yet here it is growing from a tree stump implying that its a saprophytic fungus. Yet this is not the case and show were the mycelium will travel in search of nutrients.

This Bolete is rather unusual in having a cap covered in coarsely hairy scales and a partial veil. As well as not having a obvious mycorrhizal partner for its found growing on well rotted wood.

It also looks to be quite a rear species.

I would have called this Amanita nigrescens till recently but Jerry has mentioned that species named from beech forest are not the same as those found under tea tree even if they look alike!
