Digger bee (Leioproctus sp) in nest entrance. Many newly created nests in this small area ( around 40 x 2 meters ) with an estimated number of nests in excess of 100.

Large community of native bees nesting here in previous years - multiple species of Leioproctus. Bees just starting to emerge as new nests are being constructed (marked in pink).

Large community of native bees here in past years - multiple species of Leioproctus (L. boltoni and L. imatatus). Bees just startting to emerge this week with a few signs of new nests. No bees observed; a few black hunter wasps and loads of ant nests along the roadside.

Large nest site along roadside edge - multiple species of Leioproctus nesting here. Tumuli (nest diggings) just starting to appear indicating new bees are emerging. Three new female bees observed, one carrying pollen.
