On the 12th September, 2023, I heard a single call by a Kookaburra. As I moved towards where the sound had come from I saw a large bird fly from where it had been and into a further tree. When I kept walking towards the tree in hopes of getting a photo, it flew off.
On checking videos of the flight pattern of the Kookaburra I am sure that is what I observed.
This is the first time since the winter that one of these birds has visited our farm. Previously we have heard the calls but not had a visual observation.

This tree is most probably self-sown, growing on the berm of the roadside.
I have included close-ups of the foliage compared with that of a nearby Totara tree from which it differs significantly in the length of the leaves, their hardness, their density and arrangement on the stem.
