I'm not sure what was noisily harassing the hawk, but I got my camera on it just in time to see it take off. It was pretty far away, could use a bigger lens.

This rabbit must be pretty used to humans being around. It only ran a short distance away when I startled it instead of taking off as they usually do.

This hawk was feeding on a ground squirrel in the shadows. I walked right by and would have missed it if it hadn't jumped out behind me. When I heard the noise and turned around it was maybe 10 feet from me, but I guess didn't want to give up the rest of its meal. I took a step or two back and it walked over and continued feeding. Note the bit of squirrel meat visible in its bill in photo 4.

I returned about 90 min. later and took some pictures of the remains of the prey animal listed here:

I believe this was built by the Pacific-slope Flycathchers that I started seeing around the place. They were very quiet though, and I never noticed the nest was there until they were done with it.
Maybe they'll be back next year.

I saw her building a web off the bottom of my car one evening. Was still there in the morning, but as she was right next to the exhaust, I don't suppose she hung on very long after I left for work.
Too bad. I would have liked to try and get some better photos.
