I found it interesting that this marine hermit crab was using what appeared to be a freshwater apple snail shell in the sea. Freshwater Snapper Creek empties into Biscayne Bay when the dam opens, so perhaps this is how the snail made it into saltwater. The dam I speak of is in Pinecrest next to Pinecrest Gardens with freshwater fish on one side and saltwater fish on the other. I have however seen tilapia, gars, bass, etc swimming on the saltwater side close to the dam where the water is brackish.

I watched this large caterpillar scurrying around at snake speed looking left and right as though it was searching for something. It finally came to a stop at the treat it was apparently looking for, a tasty flower which it rapidly devoured. Possibly Mexican clover.
