This Bald Eagle carried a juvenile gull to a boulder, ate, left the head and some feathers, and carried the rest of the carcass away.

This sad little baby Belted Kingfisher must have fallen from her nest, a hole in the cliff 12' above. She kept calling for help, and could only waddle a bit and attempt to flap her wings. I hope her parents could help her.

I think this is a Thamnophis sirtalis ssp. pickeringii (Puget Sound Garter Snake), about 24" long and dead or stunned on the grass beside the road. I didn't see an injury.

Hundreds (thousands?) of tiny 1/2" Anaxyrus boreas (Western Toad) of different colors recently hatched and were crossing the road and hopping on the path beside the road. I asked the park host if they could block traffic. The host said they started hopping across the road yesterday, when there were even more. Thanks to the rain, not many people had driven on the road.

I saw many tiny molts of Metacarcinus magister (Dungeness Crab), as well as a few 2" juveniles, like this one trying to hide in the eelgrass, or dig into the sand to avoid me.

I think these are Parophrys vetulus (English Sole)? I've never seen so many together, dozens of them in the shallow water beside eelgrass as the tide was coming into this huge tidepool. All about 2"long.

I'm very curious about this little crab molt, a Pinnixa (Pea Crab) about 3/4" across the carapace. There were half a dozen species of crabs along this beach with hundreds of molts, but this was the only one of this species I've ever found.

It's rare to find a live Telmessus cheiragonus (Helmet Crab), or even a molt, but here in the eelgrass there were hundreds of tiny molts, from 1/4" to 1/2".
