Hello, I'm Michał, I come from central Poland, I have been dealing with Lepidopterology for over a several dozen years, I keep photo documentation, also having a scientific collection, each copy is not identified only from my photos, but from the specimen kept in my collection, where there are several thousand specimens of nocturnal butterflies and several thousand daytime butterflies, I approach the species determination very professionally, my area of interest is mainly Noctuidae, but I am not limited to other families, also during the day where butterflies are also mainly fond of the Erebiina tribe.

For many years I have been a member and observer of the European website Lepidoptera Mundi where I have nearly 12,000 observations from 2007 to 2021, because from mid-2021 I add all observations with photos to iNaturalist, all my observations from LepMundi can be seen here: https://lepidoptera.eu/observations/1023

From 2007 until now, I have been conducting inventories of Lepidoptera species from central Poland, since 2016 we have been conducting research together with Sławomir Czechowski (https://www.inaturalist.org/people/sawomirczechowski) we are inventorying species of Central Poland, checking various types of biotopes, discovering many new species for this region, as well as disappeared/extinct species for Poland. We also started research on the influence of various weather factors, such as temperature, wind, air humidity, pressure hPa, type of weather/cloud and moon phase on the activity of individual families and species of night butterflies (all data of weather factors are included in the observations)

I catch specimens for photos both during the day, where the specimens pose on their own, and at night, where they are attracted to various sources of light and light traps, specimens are not put to sleep in mass quantities, I take only one specimen of each species as evidence :)
I create my own traps that do not put insects to sleep en masse, the insects are alive, do not destroy themselves and are released into the wild after being photographed, the traps use UV light that I created myself :)

My entire collection of evidence specimens is booked with full data, where there are also registration numbers for each specimen, thanks to which the data can be read at any time.

Here at iNaturalist I have a few of my projects to which I invite you:

I invite you to see the photos, they are made in HD quality, so all the details are well shown, each photo of the specimen, mainly nocturnal butterflies, is made in my own technique to facilitate species identification and so that the photo is not taken under "artificial conditions".

I would to meet other entomologists from Europe and outside Europe, if you are interested in my profile and want to learn more, please contact me :)
