Taxonomy: Monotypic birding taxon within family Raposo. Distribution: Common in Lisboa e Vale do Tejo, esp. around the so-called Lisbon South Bay. Occasional throughout the remainder of mainland Portugal. Accidental elsewhere. Field identification: Gawky, early 40s male birder with Opticron optical equipment and Nikon bridge camera. Plumage is generally plain with greenish colours and little seasonal variation. Habits: Wanders around with binoculars hanging from the harness and camera at the shoulder strap searching for birds and other animals. Usualy alone, sometimes can be seen in small groups.
Vocalizations: Generally silent unless approached. Speaks portuguese and some kind of weird english-like language. Similar species: none known.
