I'm a retired Provincial Botanist (as of 31 March 2021) now Emeritus Research Associate with the Natural Heritage Information Centre (NHIC), Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), in Peterborough, Ontario, where I worked for the previous 28 years. Prior to that I worked for MNRF in southern Ontario based in in Aylmer, London, Chatham, and Richmond Hill, and for the Essex Region and Metro Toronto Conservation Authorities. I am a Research Associate with the Canadian Museum of Nature and have a 40+ year interest in Ontario natural history, including many taxonomic groups, especially herps, vascular plants, birds, Odonata, terrestrial gastropods, Unionid molluscs, and others. Biodiversity and rare species conservation is a major theme of my work and I am a former member of COSSARO (Committee on the Status of Species at Risk in Ontario) and provincial member on COSEWIC (Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada). I am currently a member of the COSEWIC Vascular Plants Species Specialist Committee. I explore natural history primarily in Ontario, but enjoy travelling throughout Canada (iNaturalist observations from all provinces and territories), the United States (iNaturalist observations from more than 30 states), and elsewhere.
