"Gotta observe em all"

Uundergraduate student studying Biological Sciences (and minoring in Environmental Studies) at the University of Southern California.
I am a student judge with the American Orchid Society and am a volunteer at both NHMLA and the Huntington Botanic Gardens.
My main interests lie in orchids (particularly those in genus Paphiopedilum), birds, fish, and flower-visiting insects (particularly hover flies, leps, and hymenopterans), and my current ID strengths are orchids (especially Asian and Latin American epiphytes) and that's about it, although I am slowly getting better at North American birds.
Most of my observations are centered in the Los Angeles area.
As a note, I often make observations for various species I find in nurseries, gardens, supermarkets, etc. These can include shellfish, fish, frozen exotics, and cultivated plants. As such, they will be classified as "captive/cultivated" in the data quality assessment.

iNaturalist curatorial things I'm working on at the moment include the following:
- subgeneric classifications for the largest orchid genera (like Dendrobium, Oncidium, Maxillaria, etc)
- slowly adding missing species in certain orchid genera (working on Stelis right now)
- adding Indonesian, Javanese, and Sundanese names for various taxa (especially birds)
