I'm one of those fortunate people who grew up on a farm in South Africa and loved spending time in nature since childhood. Unfortunately, due to my professional background in the Creative Services, have spent too many years stuck behind a computer in the concrete jungles of Cape Town. I recently tried to change that and moved to the Swartland, a region within the West Coast District of the Western Cape, South Africa. During the extremely hot and dry summer months, many plants here struggle to survive, but the landscape is miraculously transformed into a lush green fairyland during winter and spring. It is during this time that the critically endangered Swartland renosterveld puts up one of the most diverse and colourful displays imagined (https://www.sanbi.org/cape/renosterveld-remnants-of-the-swartland).
