I am a National Geographic Certified Educator and Explorer. In 1994 after getting my degree in Veterinary Medicine, I started a Master in Forest Sciences at UFPR, Parana State Brazil, when I started to volunteer in a restoration project in a mountain nearby (Anhangava Montain). In 1998 I was able to buy part of that area, where I created the Reserva Jaguarapira, dedicated to environmentally restore that piece of Araucaria and Atlantic Forest. Concomitantly, I got engaged in several other initiatives to help the consolidation of protected areas nearby to create what is now the largest block of Protected Areas in the Atlantic Forest.

As a wildlife researcher and conservationist, I did wildlife observations in several other parts of Brazil, but also in Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, United States, India and Nepal.
