I started my passion for nature very young and quickly became obsessed by birds. I was fortunate enough to have parents who nutured my passion, funded me with optics and drove me all over the place! At University I did quite a bit of twitching (in the UK) and went on my first foreign birding trip to Florida. A few years later I primarily birded abroad visiting all seven continents whilst following a career as a geologist in Africa. My interests developed in my thirties and I became less bird-focussed and in particular fell rather deeply into moths. These days (just turned 40) I am based back in the UK where I am County Moth Recorder for Fife (Scotland), I still bird and dabble in the occasional twitch and I also look for plant galls, leaf mines, butterflies and a few plants and fungi etc. I keep a few lists, World and UK birds, World and UK moths and a World pan-species list and I look forward to being able to travel abroad again in the future to add to these.
