Short-belted Ichneumon

At 9:09 am I learn that Joseph Conrad was a literary hero to César Vallejo. Two wires of my own get twisted together, such disparate circuits that I can almost feel the confluence and snap of the breaker. How can Heart of Darkness and Trilce fit together? Vallejo encountered Conrad in French translation in Paris in 1925, translating and appropriating favorite phrases into his own writings afterwards.

"A work that aspires, however humbly, to the condition of art should carry its justification in every line." -- Joseph Conrad

When I stepped off the narrow footpath in the direction of the sunlit base of a limestone outcropping, it was with a certain expectation, not grand, not overly hopeful, having watched a bottle fly disappear I simply hoped to see where it had landed, knowing any kind of search for insects this late in November was mostly a vacant exercise. However, the warm microclimate at the base of the rocks yield a surprise. A small wasp, mimicking one of the venomous spider hunters, flicked its wings and searched among a few crispy brown leaves. Huh!
