Macaulay Honors College and the New York Botanical Garden partnered to conduct a 24-hour BioBlitz as an opening event a required general science course for Macaulay's sophomores. The focus was mostly on the Thain Family Forest, a parcel of 50 acres that the Bronx River cuts through. This patch of woods represents the largest piece of old growth forest in New York City.
