Update, 23 July

We have added the last of the bird data with 28 species observed on the day, and we were told that this is a new record at Dunedin Botanic Garden.

We have also added 110 lichen observations. Of special note would be the new genus Notoparmelia of the family Parmeliaceae. There is a referenced article in the description of the observation https://inaturalist.nz/observations/1009714.

Still some Bioblitz data sets to upload including many more lichen species (David Galloway tells us an estimate of 200 different taxa in total were observed at the Dunedin Botanic Garden).

Thanks to all those who took part on the day and especially to those who provided us with their valuable observations to begin this hopefully ongoing project.

First Data Entry

We have today added John Steel's (http://www.otago.ac.nz/botany/staff/otago045819.html) 175 observations from Lovelock Bush (no photos available). Observations were made before the official start of Bioblitz. Flora and fauna found came from the following groups: Algae, Fungi, Liverworts, Ferns, Gymnosperms, Dicotyledons, Monocotyledons.

We have set up our Flickr account: https://www.flickr.com/people/dbgbioblitz/, which will be open at the Information Centre on the day for the public to upload their snaps.

Note: Photos taken with phones can be emailed from the device to free28cope@photos.flickr.com

This will upload the photos directly to our Flickr account. Use the organism's name in the subject line (will end up as photo's name).
