Six weeks until 2023's Great Southern Bioblitz

I hope you all have GSB 2023 in your diaries.
Lake Mac City has registered again so lock in 24-28 November and start thinking about where you may visit during the bioblitz!
As it is a month later than 2022 (to ensure equity across the three continents), our warmer Winter and Spring may mean we will have to all look a little harder to find some of our more cryptic species.

Are you ready for GSB 2023?

Lake Mac City will once again participate in GSB 2023 in late November.
We hope you can join in to increase the number of observations recorded.
Maybe get a group together and head out during the bioblitz.
Here's the link to the project- if you join it, you will get a reminder closer to the date.
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/great-southern-bioblitz-2023-lake-mac-city
Are you wondering why the date changes each year?
Spring varies across the southern hemisphere and to be inclusive of participants across the three continents, the project team agreed to move the dates each year. In 2024 GSB will return to late September.

Great Southern Bioblitz 2022

Still a few months out - please add 28-31 October 2022 to your diaries.
All observations recorded in Lake Macquarie LGA during the time frame will be included in the Lake Mac City project.
It would be fantastic to have more people involved ..... so your challenge , if you choose to do so, is to encourage others to start getting involved in iNaturalist in the lead up. :)
It is always exciting to see what everyone has seen whether it is over a few hours or a couple of days.

Great Southern Bioblitz 2021 starts in 4 days

It runs from 22-25 October - 4 days (and nights)
Any image recorded in the Lake Macquarie LGA during the GSB time frame will be automatically linked into the project even if you are not following the project or a member.
Tip ✍️double check your location radius fits within our LGA

It's good practice to take a couple of images eg plants- different angle, leaf, flower, entire plant and upload as a single record.

Any LIVING THING (excluding domestic animals or garden plantings) recorded as located within Lake Macquarie LGA and in the GSB time frame will automatically be added to 'our' Lake Mac City project https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/great-southern-bioblitz-2021-lake-mac-city
