This project contains bird counts from across the Te Waihora campus of Lincoln University, New Zealand. Most observations are from stations along six transect lines across campus, maintained by Lincoln University students.
The bird counts include a combination of stationary counts and slow-walk transects. Counts are made in five distance bands: Close ≤ 5 m, Near >5–≤20 m, Mid >20–≤80 m, Far >80–≤320 m, and Distant >320 m. Birds are counted only in the distance band they’re in when first detected. Birds seen are counted separately from birds only heard.
Note that sites where no birds were detected are entered as ID Birds with the "sought but not found" field set to "yes".
