Thanks to Everyone & Here are our Winners!

Thank you for participating in our first MycoBlitz at Tryon Creek State Natural Area.

Our goal was to work together to raise awareness of the fungi at Tryon, as well as create a verifiable record of the wide and wonderful range of mycoflora here. We had over 1,100 observations and 60 observers. Thank you! With so many observations, further species identification will continue in order to improve the accuracy of species found in the park.

We appreciate everyone who followed along and submitted observations. Our winners are announced below! I’ve listed folks by iNaturalist names, so if you are a winner stop by the Nature Center this Friday-Sunday between 9am and 4pm to pick up your prizes at the front desk. Or contact me at amy@tryonfriends.org you have any questions.

In line with our mission, we hope this opportunity inspired you to identify, cultivate or reclaim your relationship with nature in this cherished urban forest. Friends of Tryon Creek is a member-supported nonprofit that provides opportunities to learn, play, and care for Tryon Creek State Natural Area. We invite you to learn more, find upcoming events, and become a member today at www.tryonfriends.org.

Identification Help

Hello all, what an exciting first few days of the Tryon MycoBlitz. Thank you for your interest and participating. We've got over 700 observations!

If you are keen on practicing your mushroom id, feel free to spend a bit of time looking at the project observations and making id suggestions. We'll continue to do this throughout the event.

If you have any questions, email amy@tryonfriends.org.

See you in the forest,
