I am a retired microbiologist/molecular biologist with a long-standing interest in the natural world.

Since approximately 2001, I've coordinated the development of an accurate inventory of the biota of the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station and created a website (http://www.bfs.claremont.edu) that I hope is of use to students, researchers, and the general public. Since 2010, I have also coordinated the volunteer program at the field station.

Since 2018, I have been a member of the Leadership Team for the recently established Friends of the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (www.friendsofthewildernesspark.org) and the leader of the Invasive Species Working Group. We are currently in the process of identifying and mapping invasive plant species in the Wilderness Park and are beginning to also document native species.
