Bossiella orbigniana is found off the entire Pacific coasts, including from Alaska (USA) to Mexico in North America.

Habitat
B. orbigniana is found in the low intertidal or subtidal regions, up to 30 m depth. This species has been seen in deep tidepools in a higher intertidal zone as well.

Morphology and Identification
Bossiella orbigniana is a calcareous articulated coralline, Red algae, that is dark pink to red in color. It has dichotomous branches that can grow between 5 to 30 cm tall. Its wings are thin and thick, ranging from 1.5 to 2mm long, and are separated by gaps. These plants are bisporangial, but can also be tetrasporangial. They have conceptacles on segment surfaces.
