I think This what NZPCN calls Oxalis corniculata subsp. corniculata var. atropurpurea and N Z Biota calls O. corniculate var. atropurpurea

Locally common in the wetlands beside the lake.

Corolla is smaller than the calyx in this plant.

There are numerous patches of dichondra in the new portion of the Kaitorete Scenic Reserve. This look to be as named as the corolla is greater that the calyx.
