Found in the pool cleaner. (We have a natural pool, so no artificial pool chemicals). Probably entered the cleaner while in storage near the pool, so not necessarily an aquatic slug.

Appear after the first rains until late summer. Call in numbers from the pond and wetland for extended periods, mostly at night but in daytime as well. Loud calling can be heard from over a hundred metres away. Float with hind limbs extended and mouths facing the edge of the pond (poss. to amplify/reflect the call?) as they call. After mating, lay long strings of black eggs wrapped around submerged vegetation. After hatching, dense schools of hundreds o tadpoles gather near the edges of the pond, sometimes causing ripples to form on the surface.

I noticed these two as a strange-looking dark object in my headlights one evening on my return from the office. Glad I took the trouble to get out of the car and investigate. I assume I observed mating activity.
