Descripción

Ecology: Found growing alone on the ground along the side of a dirt trail; mycorrhizal with pines; area was lightly grassy

Measurements:
a. Total Height: 43 mm (4.3 cm)
b. Stipe Length: 30 mm (3 cm)
c. Stipe Width: 17 mm (1.7 cm)
d. Pileus Width: 65 mm (6.5 cm)

Pileus/Cap: centrally depressed; areolate with dark green plaque-like patches; center is completely green, with areolate marks extending to the margin; areolate marks fade from green to a yellow-grey when approaching the margin; margin smooth and striated; cap smooth; dry; surface can peel about 2/3 from the margin to the center

Hymenium/Gills: gills white; very minutely decurrently attached; gill pattern consists of long, thin, compact blades that are of even length

Stipe/Stalk: central to the pileus; white, white the very bottom of the base yellowish-brown; thick; solid; equal

Flesh: thin to medium thickness; white; no color change upon exposure

Lactation: No

Odor: Not Distinctive

Chemical Reactions: negative with KOH and Ammonia on pileus; FeSO4 also negative on flesh

Spore Print: yellowish-white

Microscopic Observations: amyloid; subglobose to globose; spiny; thin walled; dotted; 6.5 x 7.5 micrometers

Measurements:
a. Total Height: 60 mm (6 cm)
b. Stipe Length: 40 mm (4 cm)
c. Stipe Width: 6 mm (0.6 cm)
d. Pileus Width: 53 mm (5.3 cm)

Pileus/Cap: tan brown to pale brown in color; convex; smooth; slimy when wet; partial veil on the margin; slightly striated pattern
Hymenium: pored; vary in size; shallow; irregularly shaped; sinuate attachment; natural pale to golden yellow; does not stain when bruised

Stipe/Stalk: Granular-dotted; annulus is adhered to the stipe; no volva; granular dots are reddish toward the apex brownish purple toward the base; white background; solid interior; central

Flesh: pale yellow to white; does not stain blue upon exposure or when bruised; stains in KOH

Lactation: No

Odor: Not distinctive

Chemical Reactions: pileus stains greyish brown in KOH

Spore Print: Brown

Microscopic Observations: inamyloid; ellipsoidal to subfusoid; 8.75 x 2.5 micrometers

Stipe/Stalk: hollow; pale grey to buff; striated; equal; fragile

Flesh: thin

Lactation: No

Chemical Reactions: stains grayish brown in KOH

Odor: mild to faint distinction

Spore Print: dark reddish brown to flesh-colored

Microscopic Observations: inamyloid; irregular shaped (angular); 10 x 7.5 micrometers; contains 1-2 guttules

Ecology: Found growing alone and scattered on the ground near hardwoods such as Birch, American Sweetgum, Wax Myrtle, and Water Oak, as well as some conifers (mycorrhizal); was growing in the dirt, not in grass; eastern North America; near a body of water (lake)

Measurements:
a. Total Height: 55 mm (5.5 cm)
b. Stipe Length: 25 mm (2.5 cm)
c. Stipe Width: 11 mm (1.1 cm)
d. Pileus Width: 57 mm (5.7 cm)

Pileus/Cap: Evenly orange to orange-brown in color; concave when young, then becoming centrally depressed in the middle when mature; dry surface; margin even to slightly in-rolled; smooth to velvety in texture; concentric ring pattern on pileus

Hymenium/Gills: Gills run down the stalk (decurrent); dull orange-brown in color; gills even and tightly packet; thin-gilled

Stipe/Stalk: Same color as the gills; solid throughout; tapered downward

Flesh: White to a very light dull brown; no staining upon exposure

Lactation: Yes; taste was hot and acrid; color was a creamy white

Chemical Reactions: Negative reactions with KOH, Ammonia, and FeSO4

Spore Print: White to cream

Microscopic Observations: amyloid; reticulate; ornamented with warts and ridges; subglobose to globose; 7.0 x 6.5 μm

Ecology/Habitat: Was growing solitary to gregarious on woody debris; saprobic with hardwoods and conifers; fall season; eastern North America
Pileus width: 44 mm (4.4 cm)
Height: 42 mm (4.2 cm)
Pileus/Cap: Brown-orange to orange to pale orange in color; convex to broadly convex; slightly depressed; dry; scaly/scurfy; margin striated with some bits of veil fragments.
Lamella/Gills: gills close; same color as the pileus; adnate to slightly decurrent.
Stalk/Stipe: same color are the pileus; equal all around; hollow; smooth; thin; 25-30 mm (2.5-3.0 cm) long; more or less central; annulus absent; white mycelium at the base.
Flesh: Thin and fragile
Spore Print: Rusty orange to ochre brown
Spores: 6.0-7.25 x 5.0-6.25 microns; smooth; elliptical; inamyloid; brown to dark orange in Meltzer's Iodine; minutely roughened; negative in KOH

Pore surface: yellow (dirty); bruises blue; adnexed; exposed; tubes varies in both size and shape
Stalk/Stipe: yellow towards the apex; reddish-brown towards the base; tapered downward; no annulus or volva; central; fine reticulation towards the apex; bruises blue/black
Flesh: bruises and stains evenly into a very pale/light grayish-blue
Spore print: Dark olive to brown
KOH: brownish-orange on flesh
Spores: 5 ocular units (12.5 microns); smooth; thin-walled; ellipsoid to spindle-shaped to subfusoid; inamyloid; Golden in Meltzer’s Iodine
